The role of the Board of Education is to establish policies that
govern the education of all children attending the Carmel schools.
As chief school officer, the Superintendent of Schools is charged
with seeing that these policies are carried out.
Meetings of the Board of Education are generally held on the second
Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM at Carmel High School in the Library,
and on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM. These are public
meetings and you are encouraged to attend.
The meeting on the second Tuesday is typically a work session that
offers the Board an opportunity to review program recommendations,
policies, and to discuss district business.
The meeting on the fourth Tuesday is a regular Board of Education
meeting At these sessions, the Board will vote to adopt policies
and accept recommendations that were made and reviewed at the work
sessions.
District residents can address the Board on subjects
of interest at the OPEN SESSION portion of each meeting. There are two such opportunities for public comment at Regular Board meetings (at the beginning and again at the end of the meeting) and one at Work Session meetings (at the end of the meeting).
