WE SERVE
Carmel Central School District welcomes students and their
families from the town of Kent, as well as parts of the towns of
Carmel, Putnam Valley, Patterson, Southeast and East Fishkill. |
COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES
All District residents can take advantage of several school district
opportunities such as school plays, concerts, athletic and special
events. Senior Citizens are welcome to attend all school events
free of charge. The Carmel Continuing Education Program is designed
to promote life-long learning. Sessions are offered in the fall
and the spring and include courses in computers, business, arts
& crafts, gardening, music, fitness and more. |
OUR SCHOOLS
Carmel Central School District has three elementary schools housing
students in grades Kindergarten through fourth; a middle school
for students in grades five through eight; and a high school for
students in grades nine through twelve. |
ADMISSION
TO KINDERGARTEN
Any resident child who will be five years of age on or before December
1st of that school year is eligible for admission to Kindergarten.
Registration for Kindergarten is held in the spring of the year
prior to entrance. Carmel’s Kindergarten program is half-day. |
NEW STUDENT
REGISTRATION
Registration of new elementary pupils (other than Kindergarten)
is handled by the principal’s office. Proof of residency in the
district must be provided at time of registration. In grades 5-12,
school registration is arranged through the guidance department
of either the Middle School or High School. Appointments should
be made since parents must accompany the new pupil. Proof of residency
in the District must be provided at the time of registration. When
registering, if you suspect or know that your child has a disability,

IMMUNIZATION
REQUIREMENTS
All students, new entrants as well as those continuing in school,
must meet the immunization requirement set forth in section 2164
of the New York State Public Health Law. A list of the required
immunizations can be found in the District’s calendar. Proper documentation
is required. |
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided free of charge for residents who live
at least 0.7 miles from the school they attend or 0.7 miles from
a regular bus stop, to a maximum of 15 miles. |
